Organizing dashboards and queries into folders

This article contains information on arranging your dashboards and queries into folders. You can use the instructions below for both queries and dashboards. A dashboard or query can only belong to one folder at a time.

Adding your query or dashboard to a new folder

This topic will instruct you on adding your query or dashboard to a new folder. Queries and dashboards can only be added one at a time. If you have already created folders, and would like to organize your library by folders, see Viewing your queries and dashboards by folders.
To add your query or dashboard to a new folder
  1. Create and save a dashboard or query (see Creating dashboards and Creating queries).
  2. Click the Queries library () or Dashboards library () icon.
  3. Hover over the query or dashboard you would like to add to a folder.

    At the top of the thumbnail, you will see the current folder name. All queries and dashboards are automatically placed in the Default folder.

  4. Hover over the folder name.
  5. Click the down arrow next to the folder name.

  6. From the drop-down list, select Manage folders.
  7. Type your folder name in the New folder name text box.

  8. Click Add.
  9. Click Ok. Your folder will be created, but your query or dashboard will not be automatically added to it.
    Note: Query and dashboard folders are exclusive to their associated libraries. A folder created in the Queries library will only be available in the queries library.
  10. Click the down arrow next to the folder name.
  11. Select your folder from the drop-down list.

    Your dashboard or query will be added to the selected folder. You can delete folders in Manage folders, but the folder must be empty.

Viewing your queries and dashboards by folder

After you add queries or dashboard into folders, you can edit the layout of your libraries to view your queries or dashboards by folders. This topic will instruct you on arranging your library to view queries and dashboards by folder.

To view your queries and dashboards by folder

  1. In the Queries library or Dashboards library, click the Layout button.
  2. Check the Group by folder box to view your queries and dashboard in folders. If you are an admin, you can set the folder view as the default by clicking, Set as default.

Your library will now resemble the image below.
